Weingut Paul Achs is one of Austria’s premier wine producers. Located in Gols, in the sunny Burgenland, a region renowned for its diverse soils, excellent locations, and mild climate around Lake Neusiedl, the winery is a must-know for wine enthusiasts.
Biodynamic Winemaking with Tradition
Since 1991, Paul Achs has been producing high-quality wines with a clear focus on red wines. The family-owned winery is in its third generation and practices biodynamic and sustainable farming. Every step in the vineyard follows the natural rhythm, and the grapes are handpicked. In the cellar, minimal intervention allows the authentic character of the wines to shine through.
Focus on Blaufränkisch & More
The winery is best known for its red wines, especially the Blaufränkisch from the Spiegel and Ungerberg vineyards. These wines are elegant, finely structured, and reminiscent of Burgundy, rather than heavy fruit-forward wines. Additionally, Zweigelt and St. Laurent display depth, precision, and great aging potential.
Terroir from Lake Neusiedl
Thanks to the Pannonian climate and proximity to Lake Neusiedl, the grapes ripen slowly and evenly, resulting in balanced, multi-layered wines with excellent quality. Whether it’s the chalky soils of Spiegel, the minerality of Altenberg, or the power of Ungerberg, each vineyard site brings its own unique style to the bottle.
Awards & International Recognition
Paul Achs wines regularly receive high praise in top publications such as Falstaff, Wine Advocate, and Vinous. They are considered among the best Austrian red wines and are highly regarded by sommeliers, collectors, and wine lovers worldwide.
